BOARD

Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida’s Board of Directors consists of community volunteers who have been elected by the Council’s Delegate body. The board establishes policies to ensure the integrity of the organization.

The Board Development Committee is elected by the Delegate Body to prepare and present a single slate of nominees to be considered for election to the Board of Directors, Board Development Committee and every three years, as National Council Delegates and Alternates.

The Delegate Body consists of adult volunteers and members 14 – 17 years old elected in their service units who serve as voting members at the Council’s Annual Meeting. The Delegate Body also elects the Board of Directors and Board Development Committee, in addition to approving Council By-Laws and Articles of Incorporation.

Officers 2012 – 2013:

    Chair – Henrietta Gurri McBee

    Ms. Henrietta Gurri McBee, Ms. Henrietta Gurri McBee is Vice President and Corporate Officer of HDR Engineering Inc., an employee-owned architecture, engineering and consulting firm that provides a total spectrum of services worldwide to provide solutions beyond the scope of traditional A/E/C firms. HDR employs approximately 7,800 professionals in over 185 global locations. Henrietta has over 25 years of Power Generation experience. Henrietta has Masters Degrees in Engineering and Business Administration from the University of Miami.

    Henrietta is an active community volunteer in the Palm Beach County area. At St. Peter Catholic Church, she teaches religious education and is a member of the Parish Council. She is also a graduate of Leadership of Palm Beach County, a member of Executive Women of the Palm Beaches and the Palm Beach Forum Club. Henrietta has served since 2004 on the local Girl Scouts Board of Directors, where she served as Secretary of the Board of Directors, as well as Chair of the Finance Committee for GSPGC. Previously, Henrietta volunteered in Girl Scouting as Troop Leader, Asst. Troop Leader, Cookie mom, earning Water Watching and other Girl Scout certifications.

    Henrietta is married to Keith and they have three daughters and a son, all active community volunteers. Her daughters Lillian, Julia and Marie are girl scouts. Lillian earned the Girl Scout Gold award and is in her first year at Stanford University. Alec volunteers at Jupiter Medical Center and is a Community Emergency Response Team responder. Julia and Marie are both active volunteers at St. Peter Catholic Church.


    1st Vice Chair – Aimee Cernicharo

    Attorney – Human Rights Institute of St. Thomas University
    Ms. Cernicharo, a resident of Palm Beach County, is an attorney with the Human Rights Institute of St. Thomas University. She is also the founding member of the Young Leaders Circle of the United Way.
    Ms. Cernicharo is the mother of two daughters involved in the Girl Scouts. She served as a Board Member-at-Large for the Legacy Girl Scouts of Palm Glades Council.


    2nd Vice Chair – Lorna Brown Burton

    Owner – Law Office of Lorna Brown-Burton
    Ms. Brown-Burton, a resident of Coral Springs, is the owner of the Law Offices of Lorna Brown-Burton. Prior to her law firm, she worked as the Senior Associate Attorney for the Worker’s Compensation Division of Miller, Kagan, Rodriguez & Silver, P.A. for approximately four years.
    Ms. Brown-Burton earned her Degree of Juris Doctor in Law from Nova Southeastern University.
    Ms. Brown-Burton is currently affiliated with the Florida Bar Grievance Committee ; Broward Lawyers Care; Enterpise Coral Springs,Inc.(Board member), and the Coral Springs Economic Development Foundation (Board member).



    Secretary – Tina Hatcher

    Tina founded 3i Advertising / Public Relations in 2008 after 20 years at leading south Florida advertising agencies. Her work over the years has received Addy awards for creative, campaign conception and Best of Show.
    Tina attended Florida State University where she majored in Communications and minored in Public Relations. Tina is involved with the FAU Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) and Autism Speaks.
    Tina lives in Palm Beach Gardens with her husband Tom and one daughter Donelle, a member of the Girl Scouts of SE Florida.


    Treasurer – Virginia Spencer

    _Ms. Spencer, a resident of Palm Beach Gardens, is on the GSSEF Fund Development Committee.

    She is the 2009-2010 President of the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches, was a former Girl Scout leader, and has served as a guide at the Flagler Museum. Ms. Spencer is a founding member of the Nelle Smith Home for Girls, and has raised money for the Leukemia Society. She is also affiliated with the following organizations: Leadership Palm Beach Country Class of 1997, founding member of the Illustrated Properties Charities where the annual charity award is in her name, Florida Association of Realtors delegate, member of Government Affairs and RPAC committee for the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches, Board of Directors for Thurston Homeowners, Board of Directors for Master Broker Forum Association, member of the PGA Corridor Association, member of the Business Development Board. She is currently a member of the GSSEF Board.

    Janet Beets

    Human Resources Director – Uniweld Products
    Ms. Beets, a resident of Fort Lauderdale ,.is the Human Resources Director of Uniweld Products,Inc., and has been since 2001.
    Ms. Beets earned her degree in Business Accounting at Fort Lauderdale College(FAU). She earned her Certificates from the Human Resources Certification Institute, and Kaufman Institute.
    She is currently affiliated with SHRM , Human Resources Association of Broward County, and South Florida Employment Management Association. She was the honoree of the South Florida Business Journal ‘s “Excellence in Human Resources” in 2005 and 2006. The South Florida Business Journal also honored Ms. Beets for her 2006 Career Achievement.

    Tracy Carroll

    Tracy, a resident of Vero Beach, currently serves on the City Council in Vero. She is the Owner of Twenty First Century Engineering in Vero Beach, where she coordinates marketing, HR and accounting. Tracy was raised in California and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Psychology. She is a member of the Indian River County Tourism Board and has served as Past President of the Treasure Coast Vero Beach Rotary Club. She is a 10 year GS leader and has played roles including trainer, coach, recruiter, event planner and various roles on the Polaris Service Unit. Tracy and her husband John have 2 teen age daughters, who are also involved in the Rotary youth exchange.


    Tami Donnally

    Tami is the Administrator at EBC Ministries in Lake Worth and currently serves on 2 non-profit boards — Body Network in Port St. Lucie and Community Care in Royal Palm Beach. She is a former Girl Scout and a former GS volunteer. She has a Masters degree in Religious Education. She is married to David Donnally for 32 years, and they have one daughter, and 2 grandchildren. Tami has one book published and is working on a second. She enjoys reading, politics, entertaining, and spending time with her grandchildren.


    Christopher Herron

    Chris Herron is Manager of Project Development at Florida Power & Light, the largest investor-owned electric utility in Florida. In this capacity, he is responsible for leading multi-disciplinary fossil and renewable generation teams through complex technical, legal, environmental, and commercial project development and the regulatory, permitting, licensing and statutory approval process.

    Chris has almost twenty years experience in project development, corporate development, M&A, and client management in environments ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups in the energy, water, manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, and telecommunications industries.

    Catherine Lambert

    Catherine A. Lambert, Financial Advisor, has more than 29 years of experience in the financial service industry. She began her career in Boston, taking continuing education classes at Harvard University and the Boston Security Analysts Society. She received a B.A. degree in Economics from Lake Forest College and is a graduate of St. George’s School in Newport Rhode Island. Catherine joined Merrill Lynch in 2010 as the Vero Beach member of the LLH Group team located in West Palm Beach Florida. Catherine works with select private clients, foundations and non-profit organizations. She is an alumni of Elmhurst Convent of the Sacred Heart. She is an avid tennis player and enjoys living on the island with her pug named Chopper Louise.

    James Mueller

    Jim is the President of James Mueller Associates, a consulting practice that focuses on organizational development, governance and philanthropy. Before launching his business, Jim served in various executive and leadership positions in higher education, healthcare, and social services. They include Cornell University, Northwestern University, Advocate Health Care, and Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan Chicago. Prior to launching his business, Jim served as COO of Grenzebach Glier and Associates, an international philanthropy consulting firm with offices throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.

    Jim holds a BS from Cornell University and a master’s degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He serves as a nonprofit governance coach for the Community Foundation of Broward and is a consultant with the Hartman Institute. Jim also volunteers his services to the Florida Association for Voluntary Action in the Caribbean and the Americas—and has conducted in-depth nonprofit management and fundraising seminars for the Barbados Association of Nongovernmental Organizations and the Haitian Hometown Association.


    Dr. Jean A. Wihbey

    Dr. Wihbey is the Provost at the Eissey Campus of Palm Beach State College. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, an MS in counseling from Southern Connecticut State University and a BA from Fairfield University. She is on the Board of Directors and is the President Elect 2011 for the PGA Corridor Association, and currently serves on the North Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Women in Business Board of Directors, the Business Development Council of Palm Beach and the Business Forum of Palm Beach County. Her goal is to be active in the community and create awareness of GSSEF. Her research interests and presentations are on workplace ethics, trust and organizational culture. She has received numerous awards in teaching and leadership excellence.

    Julia M. (Girl Member)
    Julia is a 10th grade top ranked student at Alexander B. Dreyfoos School of the Arts. She has been a Girl Scout since the age of 4; has completed the Silver Leadership Award and is currently working on her Gold Award. Julia represented the GSSEF in Tallahassee as part of the GS Florida Day event on two occasions. She also represented GSSEF in a presentation made on behalf of Troop 20488 to the Town of Jupiter Council regarding recycling initiatives. She has recruited students to help for various GS Volunteer events such as the Migratory Bird Garden volunteer events held Loxahatchee River Center. Along with her troop and several others, they organized and presented an “Earth Day” GS event in Jupiter. She has also volunteered at several GSSEF council – wide events. She is a voting member of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts sophomore class of 2013 Student Council and is also the class historian. She has been the treasurer of the BAK Middle School of the Arts International Thespian Society and is a member of the LifeTeen Ministry group at St. Peter Catholic Church where she also lectors during Sunday Mass.


    Brittney T. (Girl Member)
    Brittney is a 10th grade student at Pembroke Pines Charter High School. She has been a Girl Scout since Kindergarten and has earned the Bronze Award, Silver Award, Cadette & Senior Program Aides, Cadette, Senior & Girl Scouting Community Service Pins, Cadette & Senior Leadership Pins. She has participated in GS events such as Mall Madness, Movie Mania, Camp Creepy, Feeding Florida and has assisted at Daisy camp and Gold Award ceremony. She has attended a National Convention and served as a Teller. She went to Washington, DC for the 95th anniversary sing-a-long. She has represented Girl Scouts in events for the City of Pembroke Pines such as Kids Konnection, and at her church, Blessed John XXIII, she is in the youth group and youth choir. She has attended Unity events and Annual Meetings of GSSEF. She is in the Book Club and on the Discipline Committee at her school.

    Dr. Stephanie Brown

    Julie Kreafle
    Ms. Kreafle is the principal consultant at Genuine Consultants in Jupiter, Florida, that includes diverse work experience in marketing, advertising, strategic development, execution and program management, community relations and outreach, and team and coalition building. She also works for the Broward Business Leadership Network as Executive Director.

    She played a foundational role in the development of the Ft. Lauderdale Independence Training and Education Center for youth aging out of the foster care system. She has worked with community leaders in business, government, education, non-profit and faith-based organizations. Ms. Kreafle studied abroad at the University of London and is a magna cum laude graduate of James Madison University.

    Nancy Proffitt
    Ms. Proffitt is the President of Proffitt Management Solutions in West Palm Beach. She has served as the Finance Chair for Habitat for Humanity, and has served on the boards of Leadership PBC, Legacy Bank and the Delray Chamber of Commerce. She has an MBA in Finance / Operations and a degree in Education / Music from FSU. Prior to founding Proffitt Management Solutions, she served as a senior management executive for more than 20 years with FedEx Corporation. She is a lifetime member of Girl Scouting and currently serves on the 100th anniversary committee. Her interests include biking and kayaking.


    Sheila Ravindran
    Ms. Ravindran is a Director in the Project Management Office JM Family Enterprises in Deerfield Beach. She served previously as first vice chair on the board of Girl Scouts of Broward County. Sheila has an MBA in Economics from the University of Miami and an MBA in Business Administration from Florida International University. She also has a degree in English literature from the University of Miami. She is a member of Leadership Broward Class 21, 2002-2003. She was on the board for the Girl Scouts of Broward County from 2001-2008, and served as First Vice President for 2 years. Sheila is on the South Florida advisory board for Women in Technology International. Her passions include golf and running marathons. She lives in Delray with her husband and 2 daughters.

    Emma J. Wynn Sampson
    Emma Sampson – Retiree of the City of Oakland Park Florida, gained experience in local government operations through service in the City Manager’s Office, Fire Department, Human Resources, Community Development and Municipal Service Departments.

    Emma has a Bachelors Degree in Business from Nova Southeastern University and a Masters from the University Phoenix in Organizational Management.

    She moved to south Florida from Rochester, New York over twenty years ago and now resides in Deerfield Beach. Emma has two sons and one daughter.

    Shirley Schaff (BDC Chair)
    SHIRLEY SCHAFF
    Shirley L. Schaff, PHR, is the Owner of Recruiting Hound, Inc. (www.recruitinghound.com), specializing in professional placement with engineers and manufacturing managers. Previously, she owned a financial brokerage beginning at age 24 for just over a decade. In her current role, Shirley works closely with small and large corporations nationwide. Her primary duties include: reviewing recruiting deficiencies, recommending and designing suggestions within a company’s budget, and staying informed on changes affecting quality employment. When not working, Shirley is involved in volunteering, attending school, advisory boards and leadership within local Republican clubs and politics.
